With the introduction of the French HPST law (Hopital-Santé), the system of continuing education in dentistry has become the DPCO: Développement Professionnel Continu Odontologique (Continuing Professional Development in dentistry). This system encompasses :
continuing professional development,
conventional continuing professional development
evaluation of professional practices.
The implementation of this Continuing Professional Development (DPC) remains relatively complicated, since the organizations must be validated by the OGDPC, the training courses they offer must correspond to a certain formalism as well as a national orientation, and finally, practitioners must register for training, have their registration validated and their deposit cheque returned only if payment is made by the OGDPC.
The procedures for both Scientific Societies and practitioners are sure to be simplified, although the educational formalism will remain intact. The choice of topics will also be the responsibility of the professional scientific committee.
