Dr. Chantal Naulin Ify's new book was recently published by CDP, in the JPIO collection, following other works including "Dental Trauma:
From Diagnosis to Treatment" published in the same collection in 2005.
This is an important 344-page, richly illustrated work that covers, across 13 chapters, all the oral and dental care that can and should be provided to our children.
After a brief overview of child development and its
psychological approach, the book discusses the initial consultation as well as the control of
pain and anxiety.
All areas of pediatric dental surgery are then reviewed: restorative dentistry, endodontics, surgery, prosthodontics, and of course, so-called "clinical interceptive" orthodontics. Chapter 9 was bound to capture our attention. It's gratifying to note how much our Bioprogressive concept, though never explicitly named, has clearly influenced these pages.
Thus, in one of the colorful blocks intended to attract the reader's attention, it is clearly stated:
"If we wish to restore optimal craniofacial development, 'all' dysfunctions must be corrected because they are linked. Functional rehabilitation and orthodontic therapy go hand in hand. Without one, there can be no stability of the acquired functional and postural correction."
